Still active professionally in international business development, Jan has been an adept of martial arts for close to 40 years.
Beginning with jujitsu and karate in the 70’s, he learned kyudo (Japanese archery) while working in Tokyo in the 80’s and continued practicing it until mid-90’s when very frequent worldwide business travel prevented him from regular training with a two-meter bow. Jan then started to learn taiji quan and qigong that continues until today.
For the past 17 years, Jan has been developing his skills under the guidance of Ly Chuan Zheng, seventh-generation master of Yang Jia Lao Jia (Old Style Yang) Taiji Quan. Over the past few years, dividing his time mostly between Singapore and Poland, Jan started to teach and currently runs courses and workshops of taiji quan and qigong.
In early 2014, Jan established a foundation called Fundacja Dantian with the aim to disseminate the traditional Far Eastern energy arts in Poland. An important focus of that non-profit foundation is to implement programs preventing disability and restoring psychomotor performance.
